Many first time users of EPS Cement Sandwich Panel worry that they will calculate the wrong quantity of panels, leading to material shortage or unnecessary leftover waste. In fact, calculating the exact number of panels you need for your project is very simple, much easier than calculating the number of bricks and cement mortar for traditional masonry walls.
First, calculate the total area of all the walls you need to build, by multiplying the total length of all walls by the wall height. Then subtract the total area of all doors, windows and large openings from this number, you will get the net wall area. The standard size of a common EPS Cement Sandwich Panel is 2.44 meters in width and 3 meters in height, which covers around 7.3 square meters of wall area. But in actual calculation, you should consider that the tongue and groove overlapping part of adjacent panels will take up around 5% of the panel area. So the actual usable area of each panel is around 7 square meters. Divide your net wall area by 7, and you will get the basic number of panels you need. Then add an extra 3% to 5% of the total number as spare panels, to cover the small amount of cutting waste that will happen on site. This calculation method is accurate enough for 99% of regular projects. Many panel manufacturers also provide free quantity calculation service according to your architectural drawings, which will make sure you get exactly the right number of panels, no waste, no shortage.
